On the morning of May 10, Formation 83, composed of the Chinese Navy's Qi Jiguang and Jinggangshan ships and carrying naval cadets and officers and enlisted personnel, cast off from a naval port in Dalian and a civilian port respectively to carry out a far-sea training mission and visit Cambodia and East Timor.

It is understood that the cadets taking part in this training and visit aboard the ships come from the Dalian Naval Academy and the Naval Submarine Academy. Among them, five foreign military students from the Dalian Naval Academy will be mixed with Chinese cadets for joint training throughout the entire process.

During the mission, the formation will organize training focused on improving the cadets' post competency and comprehensive navigational capabilities. On the basis of continuing to consolidate the results of previous far-sea training, it will further explore new models, new content, and new methods for mixed-group maritime training of cadets under far-sea conditions, and expand the realistic teaching platform for maritime training. At the same time, while berthed at foreign ports, the formation will also carry out official calls, visits, and discussions to deepen friendship with the people of the visited countries.
