On May 11, reporters learned from the Meizhou Municipal Government website that the Meizhou Municipal Committee for the Assessment of Courageous Acts intends to confirm five rescuers from the Meida Expressway landslide disaster as persons who performed courageous acts, and has publicized their deeds to solicit public opinion. The public notice period is from May 10, 2024 to May 17, 2024.

At around 2 a.m. on May 1, 2024, after the landslide disaster occurred at the Chayang section of the Meida Expressway in Meizhou City, Huang Manqiu, Huang Jiandu, Wang Xiangnan and others, undaunted by danger, successfully intercepted multiple vehicles attempting to drive toward the landslide site, preventing further expansion of casualties; Liu Yongjin and Cai Xuanda rescued multiple injured persons from the landslide site, playing an important role in protecting the lives and property of the people.

After Huang Manqiu discovered the lane collapse, she immediately called the police for help and led her family to turn on their mobile phone flashlights and wave continuously to signal and intercept oncoming vehicles.

Huang Manqiu's father, Huang Jiandu, climbed over the median guardrail of the expressway and went against traffic to the other side of the landslide section, waving to signal vehicles to stop. Upon finding that some vehicles were still moving forward, he knelt directly in the middle of the lane until the oncoming vehicles were stopped, preventing more vehicles from falling into the landslide site.

When cold-chain truck driver Wang Xiangnan was driving through the section, he noticed a vehicle ahead driving in the wrong direction with hazard lights flashing. After learning that a landslide ahead had made the road impassable, he parked his cold-chain truck horizontally across the middle of the road and turned on the hazard lights to remind following vehicles to slow down and stop in time, preventing uninformed vehicles behind from continuing forward.

When Liu Yongjin and Cai Xuanda saw vehicles had fallen at the landslide site, they used mobile phone flashlights to reach the site and carry out rescue. After rescuing four injured persons from the scene, Liu Yongjin then rescued two more people.
