Innovative technology + intelligent safeguards + efficient construction: On May 6, the shield tunneling of the right-line section between Chuzhou Road Station and Hefei Road Station of the 02 work area, civil engineering section 2 of Qingdao Metro Line 5, undertaken by the project department of China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group, was successfully completed 30 days ahead of the scheduled milestone, marking a new breakthrough in the construction of Line 5.

For the right-line section between Chuzhou Road Station and Hefei Road Station of Qingdao Metro Line 5, the selection and application of the shield machine were particularly important due to complex geological conditions and the small, difficult construction site. To this end, the project team, focusing on team building, carried out extensive technical research: to ensure environmentally friendly and efficient muck removal, the project was equipped with slurry filter-press separation equipment; to ensure that shield tunneling would not cause chamber clogging, the project pioneered sodium percarbonate soil conditioning; to prevent brake failure of the battery locomotives, the project modified the anti-drowsiness pedal and pneumatic interlock braking system of the battery locomotives; and to prevent accidental rolling of the battery locomotives, the project innovated an automatic anti-roll hook and a section anti-roll car stopper. At the same time, digital and intelligent means were used to strengthen tunneling safety management and technical control, and through real-time monitoring, data analysis and other means, the safety and stability of shield construction were ensured.

Qingdao Metro Line 5 starts at Maidao Station and ends at Yunling Road Station, with a length of about 32.6 kilometers and a total of 27 stations, 12 of which are transfer stations that can transfer with 8 rail transit lines and intersect with the existing urban metro network, positioning it as a backbone line of the large-capacity grade.
