Recently, Ni Hong, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, met with Michal Mlynár, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Acting Executive Director of UN-Habitat. The two sides conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges on further deepening cooperation in the field of human settlements.

Ni Hong pointed out that the Chinese government attaches great importance to improving the living environment and enhancing people's well-being, which aligns with the goals advocated and promoted by UN-Habitat of "adequate shelter for all" and "sustainable development of human settlements in the process of urbanization." Ni Hong stated that we will firmly grasp the fundamental goal of enabling the people to live in peace and contentment, and strive to help the people live in better housing, moving from good houses to good residential communities, from good communities to good neighborhoods, and from good neighborhoods to good urban areas, so as to build livable, resilient, and smart cities. China and UN-Habitat have broad space and huge potential for cooperation, and China is willing to further deepen cooperation with UN-Habitat and jointly host events such as the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award) and World Cities Day. At the same time, China will actively share its experience and practices in high-quality housing construction and sustainable urban development, making greater contributions to the global cause of human settlements.
