At around 17:00 on May 5, the successful completion of pouring the last 246.5 cubic meters of cast-in-place girder marked the full closure of the Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Bridge in the Hubei section of the Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway, laying a solid foundation for opening up an important track-laying corridor.

The Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Fuzhou-Yinchuan High-Speed Railway's Wuhan-Xi'an High-Speed Railway. The newly built main line has a total length of 255.76 kilometers, including 86.36 kilometers within Hubei Province and 169.4 kilometers within Shaanxi Province, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Among them, the Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Grand Bridge is a combination of two bridges, the Hanjiang Avenue Bridge and the Ertiangou Bridge, with a total length of 360 meters. It is constructed and managed by the Hubei Company of the Wuhan-Jiujiang Passenger Dedicated Line and constructed by China Railway 11th Bureau Group.

The Ertiangou and Hanjiang Avenue Bridge spans Shiyan Avenue and a mountain hollow, with a high mountain slope in the middle. The closure this time was the 6th span, a 24-meter simply supported box girder, and the girder body "brushed past" the high slope. According to reports, the bridge was originally designed as two bridges, and the middle mountain area was originally designed as a subgrade. To prevent foundation settlement or landslides, the owner, designer, and construction parties optimized the construction plan, changing the subgrade to bridge construction, adding two bridge spans, and adopting seven-level slope protection construction for the mountain above the railway.

The bridge spans the ceaselessly flowing Shiyan Avenue, with a long construction period, heavy traffic pressure, and high safety risk and ecological environmental protection requirements. Since construction began in June 2021, the project department has planned ahead and continuously optimized the construction organization. The continuous girder of the bridge was constructed using cantilever casting and the simply supported box girder using movable scaffolding cast-in-place methods, and various environmental protection measures were taken to centrally collect and treat sewage and waste residue. The Hanjiang Avenue Bridge successfully closed first across the entire line in the early hours of April 14, 2023.

After the Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway is completed and opened to traffic, Shiyan to Xi'an will be reached within 1 hour, and Wuhan to Xi'an will be reached in about 2 hours, which is of great significance for strengthening the connection between the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration.
