Wuzhou, May 7 (Xinhua) — According to news released early on the morning of the 7th by the Publicity Department of the CPC Cenxi Municipal Committee in Guangxi, Liufei Village in Botang Town, Cenxi City, Guangxi, was struck by a sudden flash flood disaster on the 6th due to localized heavy rainfall. By around 21:00 that evening, two missing persons were found; despite all-out rescue efforts, they died.

At present, local emergency response, public security, firefighting, communications, power and other relevant departments are carrying out rescue and repair work, and emergency rescue and disaster relief as well as follow-up work are proceeding in an orderly manner.

The reporter learned from the Cenxi City Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters in Guangxi that heavy rainfall in Cenxi City will continue, with a high meteorological risk of flash floods or waterlogging. Given the relatively large cumulative rainfall of this round of heavy rain and the relatively high possibility of localized flooding disasters, the local authorities launched a Level IV emergency response for flood disasters in Cenxi City starting at 18:00 on May 6.
