The national "14th Five-Year Plan" major science and technology infrastructure project for optical field regulation launched its shield tunneling on April 21. Within this year, the project will be completed alongside provincial-level facilities such as the polymorphic coupled rail transit dynamic model test platform and the flexible substrate micro-nano structure imaging system research device, providing strong support for Chengdu Science City to undertake two major national strategies: the Western (Chengdu) Science City and the Chengdu-Chongqing (Xinglong Lake) Comprehensive Science Center.

The underground tunnel project is the controlling works of the entire project. Sichuan Tianfu New Area leveraged the advantages of its industrial functional zone and, through a working model of "integration of the management committee and bureaus, integration of the management committee and subdistricts, and government-enterprise coordination," strengthened element guarantees and promptly resolved

key element issues such as planning, construction, and land, ensuring the basic conditions for project construction; at the same time, it assigned dedicated project officers to work with all project participating units to refine the construction organization design based on project characteristics, plan ahead, optimize resource allocation, and closely coordinate process sequencing to ensure efficient and orderly progress of all work, achieving a running start upon site entry. They successively overcame major difficulties such as ultra-deep foundation pit excavation, operations in confined spaces, and split shield launching, ensuring the smooth progress of shield construction for the underground tunnel project. The shield launch marks a phased victory in the project's civil engineering works and lays a solid foundation for completing full tunnel breakthrough by the end of September and project completion by the end of the year.
