At 9:08 on April 27, on the banks of the Yangtze River in Guichi District, Chizhou City, as the last batch of concrete was poured into the formwork, the concrete pouring of the pile cap for Main Pier No. 4 of the Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge was completed, marking that Main Pier No. 4 of the bridge will enter the main tower construction stage. This is also the ** main pier pile cap completed by pouring in the entire bridge.

The Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge connects Guichi District of Chizhou City and Zongyang County of Tongling City, with a total length of 3.1 kilometers, of which the main bridge is 1,768 meters long. It is a three-main-truss, three-cable-plane double-deck steel truss cable-stayed bridge with a span arrangement of (100+378+812+364+114) meters. The south main tower of the bridge is 274.5 meters high, and the north main tower is 282.5 meters high. Both are elegantly shaped spatial diamond-type reinforced concrete bridge towers, known as the "Bridge in the Sky."

The No. 4 main pier completed by this pouring adopts the double-wall steel boxed cofferdam construction technology. The pile cap has a plan dimension of 75.6 meters × 47.6 meters and a thickness of 7 meters, with an area equivalent to 8 standard basketball courts. A total of more than 4,100 tons of steel reinforcement is required, and about 25,600 cubic meters of concrete is poured. It features a complex construction environment, large structural scale and dimensions, long continuous pouring time for the pile cap concrete, and a large pouring volume, with high requirements for production, scheduling, and safety control.

The Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge features long spans, heavy loads, and high speed, and is built according to the standard of "highway + intercity railway + urban rail transit" combined river crossing. The upper deck serves as the river crossing channel of the Ningzong Expressway, arranged with two-way 6 lanes and a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour; the lower deck carries the two-track Hechi Intercity Railway with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, and reserves two tracks for the Chitong regional railway with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

The Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge is a controlling project for the entire Hefei-Chizhou Intercity Railway, which is about to start construction. It is about 24 kilometers upstream from the Chizhou Yangtze River Highway Bridge and about 20 kilometers downstream from the Tongling Yangtze River Highway Bridge. After the bridge is completed and put into operation, it will become the sixth highway-railway bridge crossing the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, following the Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge, the Tongling Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge, the Third Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge, as well as the under-construction Ma'anshan Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge and the G3 Tongling Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge.
