This year, Moyu County in Xinjiang has vigorously promoted agricultural and rural water conservancy construction projects, implementing upgrades and renovations of water conservancy infrastructure to boost agricultural efficiency and increase people's incomes, effectively enhancing the well-being of people of all ethnic groups.

On April 24, at Kuoketireke Village in Sayibagh Township by the Karakash River in Moyu County, the construction site of the Moyu County surface water supply project was busy yet orderly.

It is reported that the project has a total investment of 602 million yuan and covers multiple construction components including a grit sedimentation and storage pond, a water purification plant, water transmission pipelines, and an automated information management system. Hui Chuang, deputy director of the Moyu County Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, introduced that the project is a key project under the 14th Five-Year Plan and is currently progressing smoothly. It is expected to be fully completed and put into operation by the end of May this year, at which point it will effectively solve the water supply problem for more than 200,000 people in the county seat and provide residents with a more stable and safe source of drinking water.

Meanwhile, the Moyu County 2023 grain production capacity improvement project is also in full swing. At the construction site of the off-site water conservancy project in the Yuxi Development Zone, multiple pieces of machinery and equipment are working intensively, and workers are carrying out reinforced concrete work on the embankment. The project mainly serves the irrigation regulation water supply for newly added land in the Yuxi Development Zone of Moyu County. The connection of the second phase with the main pipeline of the first phase can meet the irrigation task of 140,000 mu in the Yuxi area, providing solid support for local agricultural structural adjustment and farmers' income growth.

Aibibula Maimaiti, the on-site project manager of the Moyu County Water Conservancy Bureau Project Office, said: "The overall project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2024. The implementation of the project not only provides a reliable water source for the newly added land in the development zone, but also adopts advanced sand sedimentation technology and pipeline water transmission methods, achieving economical and intensive use of land and water resources and laying a solid foundation for improving agricultural production conditions and promoting farmers' income growth."

In addition, at the construction site of the Moyu County Nanping Reservoir diversion canal renovation project, workers are carrying out construction in a busy and orderly manner. The anti-seepage renovation of the main canal of the Moyu County Nanping Reservoir diversion canal renovation project has a total length of 15.23 kilometers, a design flow of 7 cubic meters per second, an increased flow of 8.4 cubic meters per second, and a total of 41 canal system structures to be renovated and upgraded.

The Moyu County Nanping Reservoir diversion canal renovation project started construction in August 2023 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2024. After completion, it can effectively improve the irrigation and drainage conditions of the irrigation districts in Yingyeer Township and Kawake Township, reduce the harm of soil salinization, enhance the level of water resource utilization and scientific allocation, guarantee agricultural irrigation water, increase grain production capacity, achieve increased agricultural output and farmers' incomes, and greatly enhance the people's sense of gain and happiness.

As this series of water conservancy projects benefiting the people are completed and put into use one after another, the agricultural production conditions in Moyu County will be further improved, and farmers' living standards will also be significantly raised.
