On April 28, Xining Water Supply (Group) Co., Ltd. of Qinghai issued an emergency water outage notice, stating that a rupture of the main water transmission pipeline had caused water outages across a large area of the city.

It is understood that at 13:50 on the 28th, the main water transmission pipeline of the No. 6 Water Source, located at the Beichuan Small and Micro Enterprise Park, 13 kilometers along Ningzhang Road in Xining, burst. Relevant units are making every effort to carry out emergency repairs, and water supply to the affected areas is expected to be restored at around 18:00 on April 29.

Xining has currently adopted temporary emergency supply measures, organizing water supply, urban management, sanitation, firefighting and other forces to secure water supply for key industries and residential communities. As of the evening of the 28th, the Xining water supply department had mobilized 90 vehicles and more than 200 person-times, and the fire and rescue department had dispatched 54 fire engines and 240 firefighters to deliver water continuously at multiple water supply points.

The reporter learned from Xining that Xining Water Supply Group had issued a water outage notice on the 25th, stating that in order to optimize the structure of urban water supply sources in Xining, scientifically conserve groundwater resources, and advance the renovation and upgrading of the No. 7 Water Plant and the construction of supporting facilities, water supply was scheduled to be cut off from 10:00 on April 28 to 6:00 on April 30, 2024. Relevant staff said that the water outage notice issued on the 25th overlapped in time with this emergency incident, and that communities had issued notices in advance, so many residents had already stored water.
