On April 18, the shield machine for the left line of the Xiade Station–Majiangdu Station section of the Phase I project of the East Extension of Fuzhou Rail Transit Line 2, undertaken by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), successfully completed its launch.

According to the overall construction plan, both shield machines for the Xiade Station–Majiangdu Station section will be launched from the large-chainage end of Xiade Station and will bore to the small-chainage end of Majiangdu Station, where they will be received and lifted out. The section has a total length of 1573.199 m and passes beneath existing municipal roads, bridges, landscaping, parking lots, residential buildings, office buildings and other structures, crossing strata including silty sand, silt with sand interbeds, fine to medium sand, silt and slightly weathered granite; the maximum overburden thickness of the section tunnel is approximately 16.97 m, and the minimum is approximately 9.97 m.

At present, the shield tunneling in the Xiade Station–Majiangdu Station section is progressing steadily. All project personnel will conscientiously remain at their posts, coordinate safety and production work, strictly implement the schedule plan, and make every effort to ensure that the right-line launch milestone in May is completed on schedule.
