On the evening of April 22, a sea vessel grazed the anti-collision pier of the Jiujiang Bridge on National Highway G240 and sank in the waters off Danganzhou Tail after a failed attempt to beach itself. There were 11 crew members on board, of whom 7 were rescued and 4 remain missing with search and rescue ongoing. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
At present, the traffic police department has imposed traffic control in both directions on the Jiujiang Bridge of National Highway G240 (from 6:00 on April 23 to 6:00 on April 24). The maritime authorities have implemented navigation control: except for emergency rescue vessels, other vessels are prohibited from entering the waters within three kilometers upstream and downstream of the Jiujiang Bridge on National Highway G240. Passing vessels are advised to detour.
