Recently, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province issued a notice clarifying that new, renovated, and expanded building construction projects shall implement building coding and mapping in the whole-process digital drawing management system for construction projects, marking that buildings will have their own exclusive ID—the "Building Code."

　　It is reported that the "Building Code" is a unified coding management system for urban and rural buildings across the province, built on the basis of spatial location and with building units as objects, assigning a full-lifecycle **code to each individual building (individual buildings and non-adjacent basements are each coded separately). This code runs through business stages such as engineering construction project design, construction, (pre-)sales, acceptance, property management, and operation and maintenance, realizing the application of the building ID and full-lifecycle digital management of buildings.

　　The relevant person in charge stated that the "Building Code" will build a "one code, full chain" for full-lifecycle building management, including individual building design, individual building mapping, individual building coding, construction drawing review, construction permit approval, and project progress management. In the future, the "Building Code" will be promoted and applied in multiple fields and numerous scenarios, further breaking down relevant data barriers, improving data sharing mechanisms, and extending to areas such as incremental housing and existing housing, actively empowering the "City Brain," forming a cross-departmental public service application ecosystem, better achieving data co-construction and sharing, and empowering urban construction.
