On April 15, the first slurry balance shield machine for the third phase of the Qingdao Metro, "Huanrui No. 1," was successfully launched from Huanwan Avenue Station on Line 5, marking that the section project from Ruichang Road Station to Huanle Binhai City Station to Huanwan Avenue Station has fully entered the construction stage.

　　The "Huanrui No. 1" slurry balance shield machine was tailor-made for the Qingdao Metro by China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Group. The shield machine has a cutterhead diameter of 6.48 meters, a total length of 96 meters, and weighs 500 tons. It is used for shield tunneling in the section from Ruichang Road Station to Huanle Binhai City Station to Huanwan Avenue Station on Line 5. This section is also the ** section of the third phase of the Qingdao Metro to use a slurry balance shield machine for tunneling.

　　The geological conditions in the section are complex, with various underground pipelines distributed beneath the surface, numerous high-rise buildings nearby, and busy road traffic. Choosing a slurry shield can both ensure that the safety risks during tunneling are controllable and ensure a reliable tunneling schedule.
