On April 9, the old Shiliang River Bridge of the Sinohydro Bureau 8 BaiMa Project Department was successfully demolished by blasting. The blasting adopted the domestically pioneered shaped-charge cutting blasting technology, and harmful effects such as blasting vibration were all controlled within the allowable range, causing no impact on surrounding buildings, river embankments, or other aspects of the surrounding environment.

The old Shiliang River Bridge was built in 1994, with a total length of 124 meters and a width of 12 meters. The bridge adopted a bundled steel tube concrete basket-arch structural design and was a half-through bundled steel tube concrete highway bridge. During its service, partial displacement occurred in the steel tube concrete foundation of the main arch, seriously affecting the safety of the bridge; it had been out of service for many years and was classified as a dangerous bridge. The blasting demolition of the bridge can provide a working face for the construction of Highway No. 2-2, ensure the transport passage for the slope excavation of the tailrace channel on the left bank, further guarantee on-site construction progress, and enhance the shipping resource advantages of the Wujiang River.

The steel tube concrete main arch adopted the two-wing, eight-ring, six-segment, two-support blasting demolition method, that is, four circumferential explosive cutting rings were arranged on each side above the steel tube arch foundation in the toppling direction, cutting the blasting section of the steel tube arch into three segments; the concrete inside the steel tube arch was crushed by drilling and blasting and escaped along the cutting seams, causing it to lose its load-bearing capacity; by using a reasonable delay detonation time difference, the steel tube arches on both sides of the supporting wings were blasting-delayed to form hinges, and under the action of the bridge body's gravity, an overturning bending moment was generated, causing the bridge body to deflect and topple to one side, and then fall to the ground and disintegrate. The pier columns of the approach bridges on both sides adopted unequal explosion height and delayed blasting technology, which echoed the blasting of the steel tube arch and ensured the overall synchronous directional toppling of the bridge.

At the blasting site, the observing experts said "very good" three times in a row, highly praising Sinohydro Bureau 8 for truly integrating the craftsman spirit of striving for perfection into every link and detail of the blasting demolition.
