Recently, a video circulating online has sparked widespread attention. In the video, white curtains are hung on the lower berths of facing sleeping berths inside a train, with young people sitting behind them looking at their phones, while a voiceover features an auntie complaining: "These young people hang curtains on the train and won't even let a 70-something elderly person sit down!" In response, China Railway's 12306 customer service stated that there is no explicit regulation prohibiting the use of enclosures, and they may be used as long as they do not affect other passengers, but it is necessary to reach an agreement with fellow passengers.

　　A reporter has learned upon inquiry that the railway authorities have in fact already introduced a berth selection service. When passengers purchase sleeping berth tickets on the China Railway 12306 website and App, they can independently select berths online for categories including soft sleeper and hard sleeper on conventional trains, as well as soft sleeper, first-class sleeper, and second-class sleeper on EMU trains. When, on the ticket search interface, a train number is seen marked with the character "berth," it indicates that the train offers berth selection service. When users select a seat class that supports berth selection, the interface displays the corresponding berths. The 12306 online ticketing system can also automatically identify passengers aged 60 and above and, when tickets are sufficient, give priority to arranging lower berths for them. However, if the remaining seats (berths) cannot meet demand, the system will perform automatic allocation.

　　According to the official response and relevant regulations, after a passenger purchases a sleeping berth ticket, they acquire the right to use that berth for the corresponding period. As long as the passenger does not damage the bed and does not infringe on the normal rights of others, other passengers have no standing to interfere or make demands.
