GUIYANG, April 14 (Report) — In spring, Xinmin Village, Kunzhai Township, Nayong County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, is green with water and hills everywhere. A white-walled, gray-tiled "Jiguiyuan" homestay sits amid the misty green fields, where the fresh air and cool climate are refreshing. The homestay owner is warmly receiving guests.
The "Jiguiyuan" homestay was converted from the idle house of local villager Xie Yangzhong. Besides being a rural characteristic homestay, it is also the "base camp" for the paired assistance work carried out by the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK); the name "Jiguiyuan" originates from this.

"I never expected this idle rural house to be so popular with tourists. Many say they want to come back again after visiting, and I have also realized earning money right at home." Looking at the stream of visitors to the homestay, Xie Yangzhong is very happy.
In May 2023, the Jilin Provincial Committee of the RCCK came to Xinmin Village for assistance. Learning that Xie Yangzhong's family had an idle house, they suggested he turn it into a homestay, which would not only make full use of idle resources but also add to his income.
Walking into the "Jiguiyuan" homestay, the exhibition hall contains neatly placed calligraphy and painting works and orderly arranged leisure tables and chairs. Standing on the second floor, one sees rolling mountains in the distance and the fragrance of tea and rice right before the eyes, like a hidden paradise. "The air is filled with the fresh scent of flowers and grass; villagers work at sunrise and rest at sunset—pastoral idyll is no more than this." Tourists offer heartfelt praise.

Revitalizing old idle residences and developing the homestay industry has not only broadened villagers' paths to increased income but also injected more vitality into rural revitalization. At present, Xinmin Village is building an integrated agriculture-tourism industry. In addition to the completed homestays, it will successively build and improve a nostalgia hall, a library, and more, turning tourist "flow" into "stays" and enabling villagers to gain tangible dividends from rural revitalization.
In recent years, with the help of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the RCCK, Xinmin Village has not only built ** Jiguiyuan homestays but also established a small-station rice planting base and a tea garden, continuously broadening its industrial paths.

Xinmin Village originally had 700 mu of abandoned tea gardens. Relying on the unique resource of high-mountain organic tea, the Jilin Provincial Committee of the RCCK and Kunzhai Township jointly built the Zhixiang "Tongxin Tea Garden," and RCCK members in Jilin Province each claimed 800 mu of high-mountain tea gardens with a total value of 2.4 million yuan.
After the tea garden was established, during the tea-picking season villagers can work right at their doorstep, earning an average of 150 yuan per day of tea picking, while also being able to care for their families; life is increasingly promising.

The transformation of Xinmin Village is a microcosm of the RCCK Central Committee's assistance to Nayong.
For more than 30 years, the RCCK Central Committee has focused its assistance to Nayong County on strengthening infrastructure construction, cultivating pillar industries, developing the regional economy, and improving the quality of the impoverished population. Nayong County's poverty alleviation achievements have been continuously consolidated and expanded, rural revitalization has been comprehensively advanced, and villages that are ever more prosperous, harmonious, and beautiful are constantly rising in the Wumeng Mountains.

In April, along the banks of the Zongxi River in Nayong County, fiery red Agate Red cherries hang from the branches. This is the birthplace of Agate Red cherries; the ten-thousand-mu of cherries on both banks not only beautify the village but also have become an important pillar industry for the locality.
In 1996, Xu Fujun, an RCCK member and agronomist at the Nayong County Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau (now the Nayong County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau), discovered a mutated cherry and successfully cultivated a new cherry variety, Agate Red cherry. Subsequently, the RCCK Central Committee helped advance base construction, build the brand, assist with preservation and processing, and facilitated the organic (food) certification of Agate Red cherries. At present, Nayong County's Agate Red cherry planting area exceeds 100,000 mu, with products sold to major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen; the "small cherry" is gradually becoming a "fruit of prosperity."
As the Agate Red cherry industry flourishes, eco-tourism along the Zongxi River has also risen accordingly, showing a blowout phenomenon. Some villagers, spotting business opportunities, have opened agritainment restaurants, noodle shops, and baked-pot eateries, earning a living from "tourism." Today, around April each year, along the Zongxi River, fiery red cherries hang from the branches, vendors' vehicles come and go, and tourists stream in endlessly. Driven by the cherry industry, villagers' lives are becoming ever more prosperous.
