On April 11, the first 6.5m-class full-face hard rock tunnel boring machine in Zhejiang Province, the "Fenjin" TBM, fulfilled its mission and successfully completed the 3,429-meter tunneling task for the railway-crossing section of the Wenzhou Oujiang River Water Diversion Project, achieving the breakthrough of the Lingxi tunnel section.

　　The Lingxi tunnel section of the Oujiang River Water Diversion Project, constructed by China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group, features complex geological conditions, numerous risk points, and high technical difficulty. In response to the geological characteristics and railway-crossing construction requirements, the project department adopted a double-shield TBM with a diameter of 6.5m, an overall length of approximately 150m, and a total weight of about 1,000 tons. The equipment integrates geological forecasting, excavation, tunneling, automatic guidance, muck removal, lining segment assembly, and ventilation and dust removal functions, with a high degree of automation and mechanization, enabling simultaneous operations. During the TBM tunneling construction, multiple indicators reached the industry-leading level for similar construction methods.

　　According to project manager Liu He, in order to ensure the high-speed tunneling of the "Fenjin" TBM, the project department promptly adjusted construction procedures based on on-site construction progress and surrounding rock conditions, dynamically optimized the allocation of construction resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials, and through measures including setting up trial sections, optimizing tunneling parameters, organizing construction coordination and scheme demonstration meetings, formulating special emergency plans, establishing an effective linkage mechanism, advance forecasting, and in-tunnel advance reinforcement, achieved a maximum daily tunneling rate of 31.2 meters and a maximum monthly tunneling rate of 526.8 meters, completing the 3,429-meter tunneling task in 382 days and achieving the breakthrough milestone 20 days ahead of the original schedule.

　　It is understood that the Oujiang River Water Diversion Project is a provincial key water conservancy and livelihood project, listed in the Comprehensive Planning of the Oujiang River Basin and as a key construction project in Zhejiang Province's 13th Five-Year Plan for Water Conservancy Development. Once completed, it will play an important role in emergency backup water supply for Wenzhou urban area, ecological water replenishment of the river network, irrigation, and flood control and drainage. The Lingxi TBM tunnel, as an important section of the water conveyance trunk line of the Oujiang River Water Diversion Project, is responsible for connecting the Zeling and Xishan water conveyance tunnels and will provide high-quality water sources for the Xixiang Water Treatment Plant upon completion.
