Today and tomorrow (April 12 to 13), precipitation in the south will strengthen, with heavy rainfall expected in many parts of Jiangnan, torrential rain in some areas and locally severe torrential rain; vigilance is needed against geological disasters. Meanwhile, most of the central and eastern regions will continue to warm, with many places in North China and Huang-Huai approaching 30°C, feeling like early summer. Around the weekend, under the influence of a new cold air mass, many places in the north will see marked cooling; the public should adjust clothing promptly to avoid the risk of catching colds.
Mid-April will remain rainy in the south, with three rounds of precipitation arriving in succession
In the just-concluded first ten days of April, rainfall was notably above normal in many parts of the south, with some areas more than double the usual for the same period. Mid-April is expected to maintain this rainy pattern in the south; besides the current rainfall process, two more rounds will arrive in succession from the 15th to 16th and from the 17th to 19th.
Today, light to moderate snow or sleet is expected in parts of northeastern Inner Mongolia, eastern northern Xinjiang and areas along the Tianshan Mountains, northern Tibet and the central Northwest region; heavy to blizzard conditions are expected in parts of northern northern Xinjiang and eastern northern Xinjiang, with locally severe blizzards. Light to moderate rain is expected in parts of northeastern Inner Mongolia, eastern and northern Northeast China, northern Xinjiang, southeastern Tibet, most of Jianghuai, Jiangnan, eastern Southwest China, northern South China and Taiwan Island, with heavy rain in parts of southern Jiangxi and southern Fujian.

Tomorrow, light snow or sleet is expected in parts of the western mountainous area of southern Xinjiang. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in parts of the Hetao area of Inner Mongolia, northern Shaanxi, southern North China, western Huang-Huai, eastern Jianghan and central-northern Jiangnan, with torrential or severe torrential rain in parts of eastern Hubei, central-northern Hunan and northern Jiangxi.

The day after tomorrow, light snow is expected in parts of the southern Xinjiang Basin, northern Tibet and southern and western Qinghai; sleet in parts of northwestern Heilongjiang, the western mountainous area of southern Xinjiang, northern and southern Tibet and southern Qinghai; and local blizzards in northeastern Inner Mongolia and northwestern Heilongjiang. Light to moderate rain is expected in parts of eastern Inner Mongolia, western and southern Northeast China, southeastern Northwest China, central Shaanxi, most of North China, most of Huang-Huai, Jianghuai, eastern and western Jianghan, most of Jiangnan, northeastern and central Chongqing and southeastern Southwest China, with heavy rain in parts of northern Jiangxi, central-southern Zhejiang and northwestern Fujian.

Today and tomorrow, precipitation will be relatively heavy in parts of northern Jiangnan, with localized severe convective weather; the public should pay attention to warning and forecast information. In the coming period, two more rounds of rain will appear in succession in the south, with heavy-rain areas overlapping those of the current process, so vigilance is needed against the disaster potential of cumulative rainfall. Meanwhile, from the 13th to 15th, under the influence of a new cold air mass, parts of eastern Northwest China, North China and Northeast China will also see a rain and snow process, which warrants continued attention.
Warming continues in the central and eastern regions today and tomorrow; many parts of North China approach 30°C, fast-forwarding to early summer
Before the cold air influence unfolds, warming will remain the main theme across most of the central and eastern regions today and tomorrow; many places in the north in particular will feel unusually advanced warmth, with the northernmost limit of 20°C maximum temperatures pushing into Northeast China, as warm as May to June in a normal year. Among provincial capital-level cities, Harbin and Changchun will reach 20°C for the first time today, while maximum temperatures in Taiyuan, Tianjin and Jinan will approach 30°C, feeling like early summer.
However, around the weekend, under the influence of a new cold air mass, temperatures in many parts of the north will drop significantly, with marked cooling expected in eastern Northwest China and North China. In Beijing, for example, the maximum temperature will rise to 28°C on the 13th but fall to 21°C on the 14th. In this season, cold air activity remains frequent and temperatures fluctuate; the public should keep an eye on temperature changes, adjust clothing promptly and guard against colds.
