So far, 530,000 cubic meters have been excavated, accounting for 17% of the total earthwork volume.

A relevant person in charge of the Shanghai East Railway Station project management department introduced that the underground engineering structure of the station yard area of Shanghai East Railway Station of the Oriental Hub is complex and features being super-large and super-deep. The previously conducted pile foundation and foundation pit retaining and reinforcement construction were all preparations for foundation pit excavation and main structure construction.

The Shanghai East Railway Station project is located in Zhuqiao Town, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, with a total construction area of 1.387 million square meters, including a high-speed railway station building of 160,000 square meters. The planned total scale of the national railway and municipal railway yards is 15 platforms and 30 tracks.

The main structure of the underground engineering of Shanghai East Railway Station mainly includes the station building of Shanghai East Railway Station, the air-rail intermodal transport module, the underground parts of the urban atrium and corridors, as well as concurrently implemented projects such as reserved works for the rapid transit system, and the foundation pits, foundations and main structures of projects such as reserved connections for related long-term lines, with a total construction area of about 374,600 square meters.

In the future, Shanghai East Railway Station will be connected to the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway and the planned Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou Railway, and can also introduce the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway, the Shanghai-Nanjing Yangtze River High-Speed Railway, and the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway, among others. It is reported that Pudong New Area will take Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai East Railway Station as the core to build the Oriental Hub, comparable to the Hongqiao Hub.
