CCTV News: Nowadays, rural tourism is favored by more and more people. From hiking and camping, pastoral photography, to parent-child study tours and farming research, the various ways of playing have not only met people's diverse consumption needs but also injected new momentum into rural development. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced the list of the Top Ten Cases and Excellent Cases of Culture and Tourism Empowering Rural Revitalization. Villages from 10 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, including Tianjin, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong, became the Top Ten Cases of Culture and Tourism Empowering Rural Revitalization. How do these places shape resources such as rural landscapes, folk customs, and intangible cultural heritage into pillars of rural revitalization? During the just-concluded Qingming holiday, reporters visited multiple towns and villages.

Jingzhu Village, Chongqing: Integration of Agriculture, Culture, and Tourism Boosts Rural Development

Jingzhu Village is located in the heart of Xiannv Mountain in Wulong District, Chongqing. It is rich in natural resources, with various landscapes such as forests, meadows, tiankeng (sinkholes), and gorges. Tourists coming here can enjoy flowers in spring, escape the heat in summer, view red leaves in autumn, and admire auspicious snow in winter. During this year's Qingming holiday, many tourists came here every day to sightsee and take photos.

Grinding, brewing, latte art… After a smooth set of movements, a cup of aromatic coffee is ready. She is a locally well-known "rural barista," Ran Guangfang. Now 54 years old, Ran Guangfang was a skilled farmer just a few years ago.

Ran Guangfang's workplace is a two-story glass building in the village, which serves as both a coffee bar and a rural library. Thanks to the coffee-making skills she learned through training in the village, Ran Guangfang transformed from a farmer into a rural barista.

Ran Guangfang, a villager from Jingzhu Village, Xiannv Mountain Subdistrict, Wulong District, Chongqing, said that great changes have taken place in recent years. Our whole family works in the village. Apart from doing farm work at home the rest of the time, our annual income is about 100,000 to 200,000 yuan, two or three times more than before.

The story of rural barista Ran Guangfang is just a microcosm of Wulong District's efforts to promote the integrated development of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries plus tourism. Since embarking on the path of rural tourism development in 2015, the tiankeng, gorges, and forests that were once hidden from the world have become landscapes favored by tourists. Dilapidated pigsties and tobacco curing houses have been artistically transformed into trendy tea shops and libraries. Villagers who made a living from farming have found nine-to-five jobs at their doorsteps. The development of the tourism industry has not only changed the lives of villagers but also connected their hopes and dreams.

In 2023, Jingzhu Village received more than 550,000 tourist visits, and the per capita disposable income of villagers reached 25,110 yuan.

Li Pengcheng, director of the Xiannv Mountain Subdistrict Office in Wulong District, said that next they will further promote the deep integration of Jingzhu Village's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries with tourism, launch more consumption and application scenarios for innovative integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism, make Jingzhu Village a fairyland and holiday resort in the hearts of tourists, and strive to build a model of mountainous modernization in which eco-tourism drives common prosperity in rural areas.

Yinan, Shandong: Deepening Tourism Resources to Empower Rural Revitalization

Yinan County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, is known as the "Hometown of Red Sisters." It is an important birthplace of the Yimeng Spirit. In recent years, Yinan County has relied on red resources to build a distinctive cultural tourism brand and explored the "Yinan Model" of cultural industry empowering rural revitalization.

During the Qingming holiday, at the red film and television base in Yinan County, an immersive small theater was performing the play "Women's Rescue Association," attracting many tourists to stop and take photos. This play tells the story of a group of women in the Yimeng revolutionary base area who supported the front during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This group is known as the "Yimeng Red Sisters." The actors' superb performances bring the audience into the story as if they were there.

This kind of immersive small theater is a cultural tourism project innovated by Yinan County based on local red resources. On the first day of this Qingming holiday, the scenic area received 5,000 tourist visits. Developing the red tourism industry has also found a "breakthrough" for rural revitalization. This scenic area is a village called Changshanzhuang. Now the villagers have all moved into a new community, and the old houses have been preserved. Relying on this unique advantage, the Shandong Red Sisters Hometown Tourism Area has been established, integrating red study tours, film and television shooting, and leisure sightseeing. It has produced more than 400 red film and television dramas, including "Yimeng" and "Dou Niu."

Gao Yan, section chief of the Market Promotion Section of the Yinan County Culture and Tourism Bureau, said that relying on this tourism area, a cultural tourism benefit-to-farmers model of "one area, four roles" has been formed: working in the scenic area as employees, contributing land as cooperative members, wearing costumes as actors, and selling products as shop assistants.

According to the characteristics of different villages, the local government fully taps differentiated resource advantages and implements a diversified cultural tourism format of "one village, one product." At present, Yinan County has 14 tourist attractions, receiving 11.2346 million tourist visits annually, with revenue reaching 8.562 billion yuan, radiating and driving more than 12,000 villagers in 84 villages to achieve an average income increase of 20,000 yuan per person.

Dong Shousheng, director of the Yinan County Culture and Tourism Bureau, said that cultural and tourism integration is a new engine for our rural revitalization and can effectively activate new industries for rural development. Only by actively exploring new paths for integrated cultural and tourism development can we let our farmers see more hope for development and enjoy the fruitful results brought by rural revitalization.
