On April 6, the reporter learned from the Hainan Maritime Search and Rescue Center that the search and rescue operation for the collision between the Panama-flagged container ship SITC DANANG ("Haifeng Xianang") and the fishing vessel "Yue Nan'ao Yu 36062" in the waters southwest of Hainan Island on April 3 has entered its fourth day. The eight missing crew members of the fishing vessel have still not been found. The exact location of the sunken fishing vessel has been confirmed, and professional forces are being organized to conduct on-site diving and search operations.
April 6At noon, a rescue detachment of the Southern Theater Command Navy participating in the search and rescue work captured images of the sunken ship's name by deploying a remotely operated vehicle. After verification with the shipowner, it was confirmed to be the fishing vessel involved in the incident. However, due to the rapid currents at the scene and fishing nets entangled around the sunken vessel, divers have not yet been able to enter the cabin to conduct a search. In addition, the search and rescue center has coordinated with the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau to dispatch professionals with equipment aboard the research vessel "Dianke No. 1" to the incident waters to carry out underwater search operations.
Since the collision occurred, the Hainan Maritime Search and Rescue Center has coordinated forces from all parties to carry out large-scale search and rescue work. As of 17:00 on April 6, a total of 77 vessel sorties, 12 aircraft sorties, and 614 person-times have been dispatched by various parties, including the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration, the Southern Theater Command Navy, the Nanhai Rescue Bureau, the Nanhai Navigation Safety Administration, the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau, the Sanya Coast Guard Bureau, the fisheries departments of Hainan and Guangdong, and CNOOC Hainan Branch. The cumulative search area has reached 5,716 square nautical miles. One life raft, six life rings, and one emergency position-indicating beacon have been found, but no missing persons have been discovered so far.
While organizing the search and rescue of the missing persons, the search and rescue center has coordinated with a rescue detachment of the Southern Theater Command Navy and the Nanhai Navigation Safety Administration to carry out continuous sonar scanning and positioning of the sunken vessel and underwater ROV search operations for three days without interruption. The Sanya Maritime Safety Administration has continued to issue navigational warnings, reminding passing vessels to navigate with caution and assist in the search and rescue, and has properly organized on-site traffic in the search and rescue waters to prevent secondary accidents.
At present, the search and rescue site has a southerly wind of force 5 with gusts of force 6 to 7, and wave heights of 0.8 to 2 meters. Next, the Hainan Maritime Search and Rescue Center will strengthen communication and coordination with all rescue forces, dynamically adjust the search and rescue plan according to changes in weather and sea conditions in the incident area, and make every effort to search for the missing persons from the "Yue Nan'ao Yu 36062".
