Since the beginning of this year, the construction of the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway has been advancing rapidly. As of March 26, the main tunnel of the Binghui Tunnel—the second longest tunnel on the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway, located in Section 2 of the Yunnan-Guizhou segment before the station and constructed by China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group—has been excavated to 20,042 meters, marking major progress in construction.

The Binghui Tunnel has a single-track total length of 21.17 kilometers. Construction involves multiple work sites, including "2 cross adits + 2 inclined shafts + 1 parallel heading of the tunnel body + the exit," and it is a Class I high-risk tunnel with seven types of risks, including dangerous rockfall, collapse, sudden mud and water inrush, tunnel floor deformation, gas, large deformation, and rockburst. Among these, there are 14 sections of extremely high risk and as many as 30 sections of high risk.

Facing these difficulties, the project team adopted a variety of effective measures to successively overcome unfavorable factors such as complex terrain and geology and inconvenient transportation, continuously conquering one challenge after another during tunnel excavation and advancing construction production safely, with high quality, and efficiently.
