The first quarter is the "golden period" for project construction. Major engineering projects in the fields of healthcare, transportation, and energy in Qijiang District are advancing steadily, getting the year's development off to a good start.
At the construction site of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital Chongqing Hospital, it was learned that the contractor is carrying out construction work on the main structure of the hospital building.
The National Regional Medical Center — Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital Chongqing Hospital — is located in the northern new town of Qijiang District, with a planned total investment of 2.5 billion yuan, a total floor area of 219,000 square meters, 1,000 planned beds, and 39 first-level departments. It will be built into a domestic first-class Grade 3A general hospital focusing on cardiovascular care, oncology, and rehabilitation, integrating teaching, learning, and research.
The project is divided into four major parts: the emergency building, the outpatient building, the medical technology building, and the inpatient building. To further promote quality and accelerate project construction, the contractor has reversed the schedule and is working against a wall chart. While ensuring construction safety and engineering quality, it has increased personnel and machinery inputs to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
"To date, we have completed the structural construction of all basements. At this stage, we are constructing the fourth-floor structure of the emergency building, the first floor of the outpatient and medical technology building, and the first floor of the inpatient building," introduced Wang Yunsong, production manager of the project department of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital Chongqing Hospital under China Construction Eighth Engineering Division.
To ensure the smooth progress of the project, the power supply department conducts irregular safety inspections of on-site construction electricity, actively optimizes the electricity application process, and provides efficient and convenient power services.
Chen Tao, a distribution network planning specialist in the Operation and Maintenance Department of State Grid Chongqing Qijiang Power Supply Company, introduced that the formulation of the plan and the route site selection have now been completed. The next step will be to actively communicate with the hospital and enter the implementation stage as soon as possible to ensure power supply for the project on schedule.
"By formulating milestone plans for major projects, strictly adhering to project construction time nodes, and following the principle of 'one project, one team,' we regularly track project progress, coordinate and resolve various difficult problems encountered during project power connection, and make every effort to serve the high-quality construction of major projects," said Yang Ling, head of the Tonghui Power Supply Station of State Grid Chongqing Qijiang Power Supply Company.
The CP (Qijiang) 1-million-pig industrial chain project, located in the eastern new town of Qijiang District, has also entered the site leveling stage, with a busy scene on site. With a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan and covering an area of 222.2 mu, the project will be built into a 1-million-pig full industrial chain integrating feed production, pig breeding, slaughtering and processing, cold-chain logistics, and organic fertilizer production.
Huang Xin, project development manager of Chongqing CP Pig Industry Co., Ltd., introduced that the company mainly implements a comprehensive pig processing workshop with an annual slaughter scale of 1 million pigs and a food processing workshop with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons. It will build a modern food factory with leading domestic intelligence and good industrial cluster integration. After the project is fully completed and put into operation, it is expected to achieve an output value of 4 billion yuan per year, comprehensive tax revenue of 200 million yuan per year, and create employment for more than 200 people.
As one of China's 150 major water conservancy projects and a major project jointly consulted and built by Chongqing and Guizhou, the construction of the Zaodu Reservoir has made new progress.
"In the hub project section, we are excavating the spillway, maintenance traffic tunnel, and air-raid shelter, as well as constructing the Shanwangmiao branch tunnel," introduced Yang Zhao, deputy technical director of the EPC general contracting project management department of the Zaodu Reservoir. At present, there are more than 60 pieces of equipment and a workforce and management team of more than 200 people on site, making every effort to ensure the smooth progress of the project. This year, 22% of the Zaodu project investment plan will be completed cumulatively.
The Zaodu Reservoir project launched its preliminary works in September 2022, and the main works started on May 20, 2023. Construction is currently proceeding in an orderly manner. With a total investment of 10.123 billion yuan, the project consists of a water source project and a water conveyance project. Once completed, it can effectively enhance Qijiang's flood control capacity. At the same time, the project will add about 179 million cubic meters of annual water supply, add 170,000 mu of irrigated area, improve 65,000 mu of irrigated area, benefit 3.43 million people in the southern Chongqing area, and form a multi-source water supply guarantee pattern in the southern Chongqing area.
At present, the preliminary works are progressing smoothly, the access road has been fully connected, and the diversion tunnel construction task is planned to be fully completed before the end of April. Yang Zhao introduced that river closure will be completed in October, dam filling is expected to begin in mid-December, and the overall project is expected to be completed in 2028.
Also a major project under construction, at the construction site of the Chongqing-Guizhou-Sichuan Expressway (Qijiang section), large machinery and equipment and vehicles can be seen shuttling back and forth, and each node project is advancing in an orderly manner.
According to the contractor, the Chongqing-Guizhou-Sichuan Expressway within Qijiang District is 5.37 kilometers long, including 10 bridges and 1 tunnel, involving Zijing Village, Xinsheng Village, and Jianshe Village in Yongxin Town. The construction period is expected to be 3 years, with a total cost of 510 million yuan.
"At present, physical construction has been completed for the longitudinal access road, 5 anti-slide piles of the Yuanjiashan Tunnel, the water culvert, and the 73-meter retaining wall," said Hu Yuandong, chief engineer of the project management department of the Chongqing-Guizhou-Sichuan Bid 3 under China Nineteenth Metallurgical Construction. On the morning of March 11, the first blasting of the subgrade section of Bid 3 was successfully carried out, laying a solid foundation for advancing the project. Next, construction is planned for the pile foundation of the Dunzi River Bridge, the tunnel steel reinforcement processing yard and initial shotcrete station, the precast beam yard, and the workers' home.
The Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Guizhou-Sichuan Expressway starts at Baijie in Banan District, passes through Qijiang, and ends at the Chongqing-Sichuan provincial boundary on the west side of Zhongshan Town in Jiangjin, connecting with the Sichuan section of the expressway. The route is 64.828 kilometers long with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The Sichuan and Guizhou sections start at the Chongqing-Sichuan boundary within Luzhou City, pass through Hejiang County of Luzhou City and then enter Chishui City of Guizhou, then pass through Xuyong County of Luzhou City to Junlian County of Yibin City. After the project is completed, Chongqing and Sichuan will add a new interprovincial expressway exit. With the transfer via the Third Ring Expressway, travel for people along the route will be further facilitated, helping the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
According to data provided by the District Development and Reform Commission, in 2024 Qijiang District will implement 100 major projects covering transportation, water conservancy, urban construction, industry, social undertakings, and other fields, with a total investment of 95.78 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 15.93 billion yuan.
Note: Grasping projects means grasping development; planning projects means planning the future. At present, the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and the construction of a modern new Chongqing are bringing major opportunities for the high-quality development of Qijiang District. Large and good projects are springing up like bamboo shoots after rain, growing together with opportunities and injecting tremendous momentum into the development of "Colorful Qijiang · City of Innovation."
