On March 27, Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor, chaired a meeting to specifically study the construction progress of the Changsha Olympic Sports Center project. The site selection plan for the project was determined at the meeting.
It was noted at the meeting that the current site is located in the riverside area north of the Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge, 6 kilometers from the Muyun area. It meets the project construction requirements and is conducive to driving integrated urban development, driving the development of the area, driving the protection and development of the green heart area, and enhancing the quality of the city's appearance.

From the project rendering, it can be seen that the specific location of this "Nantuo North Riverside" plot is on the opposite bank of the three halls of Xiangjiang Science City, bordering the Xiangjiang River to the west, Qiangti Road to the north, the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway to the east, and Wanjiali Road to the south, with a total area of approximately 3 square kilometers.

Convenient transportation is a major advantage of this site. The planned Changsha Metro Line 5 will have a station here, and urban expressways and arterial roads such as Wanjiali Road and Xiangjiang Avenue are adjacent to the surrounding area, forming a fast-in and fast-out transportation network that can effectively meet the needs of hosting large-scale sporting events.
After completion, the one-stadium-two-halls of the Changsha Olympic Sports Center will shine across the river with the three halls of Xiangjiang Science City, interact closely with Baxizhou and Dawang Mountain, and echo Zhaoshan in the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan ecological green heart. It will achieve a blend of landscape and culture, a dialogue between technology and sports, and coexistence between the city and ecology, and is expected to create another new "landscape-island-city" model after "Tianxin Pavilion - Orange Isle - Yuelu Mountain," building a "new Changsha名片" with Hunan character, Chinese style, and a global vision.

In addition to scientifically planning and advancing the one-stadium-two-halls (stadium, comprehensive hall, and swimming hall) of the Changsha Olympic Sports Center, the meeting also made clear that the planning and construction progress of key projects such as Hunan Sports Vocational College and the Hunan Provincial Sports Training Base (including the National Training Base) should be accelerated, laying a solid foundation for Hunan to bid for the 2029 National Games and other domestic and international comprehensive sporting events, and promoting the high-quality development of Hunan's sports undertakings.
