　　The Lujiao Tunnel project is a key section of the urban expressway's eighth horizontal line. It starts in the west at the Xuefu Interchange at Bagongli in Nan'an District, Chongqing, and ends in the east at the Lujiao Interchange in Banan District on the inner ring road. It is a separated double-tube, dual-carriageway, six-lane tunnel. The route is predominantly tunnel, with a length of 5.4 kilometers, including one extra-long tunnel, the Lujiao Tunnel, and two interchanges, the Xuefu Interchange and the Lujiao Interchange. The bridge-to-tunnel ratio of the project reaches 70.9%.

　　At the Lujiao Interchange in Banan, construction workers are carrying out pile foundation construction for the interchange ramp bridges. The Lujiao Interchange scope includes a total of 3 main lines, 12 ramps, and 9 auxiliary roads. The 3 main lines are the Sihang Line Bypass Road, the Inner Ring Expressway, and R1 Road; the 12 ramps are Ramps A to L; and the 9 auxiliary roads are Auxiliary Roads 1 to 9. These include 14 bridges and 4 vehicular underpasses.

　　It is worth mentioning that the Lujiao Interchange adopts a turbine-type full interchange scheme with strong traffic transfer capacity, with a total of three levels. The left-turn ramps all adopt the outer-turn right-exit right-entry style, forming a four-way interchange configuration resembling a turbine. In this way, even if a vehicle takes the wrong lane on the interchange, it can still re-exit by looping around.

　　According to reports, once the Lujiao Tunnel project is completed, it will greatly alleviate traffic congestion in the Zhenwushan Tunnel on the inner ring road, directly connect the Ertang area with the Lujiao area and the Jieshi area, and radiate to the Chayuan area, Nanping area, and Lijiatuo area. It will play an important role in the coordinated development of the areas on the east and west sides of Tongluo Mountain in Nan'an District and Banan District. At the same time, as one of the "five vertical and six horizontal" backbone road networks in the Chongqing East Railway Station area, the project connects with the Chongqing-Hunan double-track expressway. Once completed, it will perform the important functions of an urban connection road for the expressway and an external traffic dispersal channel for Chongqing East Railway Station.
