Key projects are a powerful engine for promoting economic development. Since the beginning of this year, Suzhou has continued to advance the construction of key projects with greater speed and efficiency, injecting new momentum into economic and social development.

In the Wujiang Textile Circular Economy Industrial Park, some of the factory buildings built in the initial phase have already begun to take shape. With the construction of the industrial park, textile enterprises in Shengze Town will also relocate here one after another, driving the automation and green upgrading of their existing equipment and facilities. The industrial park will be built into a benchmark park for the printing and dyeing industry featuring intensive land use and resource recycling.

The Wujiang Shengze Printing and Dyeing Industry Cluster Upgrading Demonstration Project is a major project of Jiangsu Province and a key project of Suzhou Municipality. At the Shenghong Feixiang new factory building project within the industrial park, workers are stepping up construction work. A total of six projects from Shenghong Holding Group will be relocated into the park, with a total investment of 2.458 billion yuan, covering fields such as high-end printing and dyeing, modern logistics, and green environmental protection. Including Shenghong, a total of 28 printing and dyeing enterprises in Shengze Town will enter the park in batches, with a planned total investment of 16.4 billion yuan for the industrial park.

"(Through) moving industry upstairs, intensive land use, and resource sharing, our land is used more economically, with savings of 30%. Supporting projects, such as sewage treatment plants and gas-fired power generation, are shared in a unified manner. Recycling is mainly reflected in the recycling and utilization of resources. After reclaimed water is reused, printing and dyeing sludge is incinerated to generate power, and the waste heat from power generation is then supplied back to enterprises. At the same time, our waste fabric will also be regenerated and utilized," introduced Wang Lixin, head of the Office of the Special Working Group for the Wujiang Textile Circular Economy Industrial Park.

By attracting printing and dyeing enterprises to gather in the park under unified planning and management, this initiative will further leverage the advantages of circular economy development and improve the living environment of the urban area. It is expected that the industrial added value of the enterprises in the park will increase by 15% annually on average, while energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of industrial added value will decrease by 10%. At present, the infrastructure construction of the industrial park is progressing steadily.

"At present, the first batch of five printing and dyeing enterprises has started construction, and about three more enterprises will start construction in the second quarter. The plan is to complete the entry or commencement of construction of 80% of the printing and dyeing enterprises within three years," Wang Lixin introduced.

Recently, Suzhou released its list of key projects for 2024, arranging a total of 545 municipal key projects. Among them, there are 500 implementation projects with a total investment of 1,216.1 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 209.1 billion yuan; and 45 reserve projects with a planned total investment of more than 190 billion yuan.
