In spring, as all things revive, a batch of major engineering projects in Beihai are being constructed at an accelerated pace.

　　Berth No. 9 and No. 10 Project of the Tieshangang Operation Area of Beihai Port
　　The Berth No. 9 and No. 10 Project of the Tieshangang Operation Area of Beihai Port is located in the nearshore waters of Xinling, Xinggang Town, Tieshangang District. The project scale covers two 100,000-ton general-purpose berths (of which Berth No. 9's marine works are designed for berthing of 150,000-ton vessels), with a designed throughput of 6.8 million tons per year, a designed berth length of 556 meters, and a total estimated investment of 1.324 billion yuan. The main scope of works includes wharf marine works, harbor basin, cofferdams, land formation, ground treatment, storage yards, in-port roads, building works, procurement and installation of handling equipment, and supporting facilities for power supply and lighting, control, communications, water supply and drainage, fire protection, environmental protection, and navigation aids.
　　The project commenced construction in November 2022. Work such as foundation trench dredging, caisson prefabrication, rubble filling and tamping of the foundation trench, and caisson installation has been completed. To date, the overall project progress has reached 54%. The casting of the parapet wall and track beams is currently underway and has reached 9.2%. Survey and design work for the rear land area is in progress. The plan is to complete the completion acceptance of the wharf marine works and start construction of the rear land area this year, and strive for overall completion, delivery, and commissioning in 2025.

　　Phase I of the Nine Dragons Paper (Beihai) Pulp and Paper Integration Project
　　On March 21, at the Phase I construction site of the Nine Dragons Paper (Beihai) Pulp and Paper Integration Project, it was learned that workers were busy operating various types of construction machinery, and the construction site was bustling with activity.
　　It is understood that in late January this year, the PM50 high-grade cultural paper production line with an annual output of 550,000 tons of the Phase I of the Nine Dragons Paper (Beihai) Pulp and Paper Integration Project successfully produced paper. This is the second papermaking production line put into operation at the Nine Dragons Paper Beihai Base. As early as the fourth quarter of 2023, the PM48 packaging paper production line with an annual output of 500,000 tons was the first to be commissioned.
　　The Nine Dragons Paper (Beihai) Pulp and Paper Integration Project is a major project coordinated and advanced by the autonomous region and a "Double Hundred, Double New" project, with a total investment of 35 billion yuan and a total land area of 4,930 mu. It will build an annual production capacity of 2.45 million tons of pulp and 5.5 million tons of various types of packaging paper, as well as an upstream and downstream industrial chain of environmentally friendly technology-based packaging and printing. Once the project is fully completed and reaches design capacity, it is expected to generate an annual output value of 70 billion yuan and annual tax revenue of 3 billion yuan.

　Shunying Energy Storage Battery Material Nickel-Cobalt Raw Material Processing Project
　　At present, various pre-production preparations for the project are being intensively advanced, and the steel-structured workshop buildings, reactors, storage tanks, etc. have been installed and are ready. From March 21 to April, Beihai Shunying New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. will, in batches, extract and transfer 220,000 tons of nickel ore from the bulk cargo storage yard of the Tieshangang Operation Area of Beihai Port into the plant for stockpiling. Work such as the installation of large core imported advanced equipment is also being accelerated.
　　The Shunying Energy Storage Battery Material Nickel-Cobalt Raw Material Processing Project is a "Double Hundred, Double New" project of the autonomous region and a major project coordinated and advanced at the autonomous region level. The Phase I investment is 2 billion yuan, and the main products include nickel, cobalt, manganese, magnesium oxide, and aluminum-scandium concentrates. Phase I of the project is expected to start equipment trial runs in April this year and begin trial production with material feeding in July.

　　Blue Water Marine Energy Equipment Manufacturing Project
　　"Since the project started construction last year, with the strong support of relevant departments in Beihai City, the project has made many substantive progress in just over a year," said a relevant person in charge of the project. At present, the project has completed the installation of two 32T gantry cranes and the main structure construction of three coating rooms. The office building and canteen have also completed main structure topping-out, and the joint workshop has completed 75% of the overall construction, with main structure topping-out planned for the end of April. Meanwhile, the 2,400T gantry crane configured for the project has also completed equipment installation and is expected to be ready for use in mid-April.
　　According to the introduction, the Blue Water Marine Energy Equipment Manufacturing Project mainly engages in the research and development and manufacturing of high-end marine engineering equipment such as large oil and gas offshore extraction platform equipment, offshore wind power booster stations, converter stations, floating foundations, and jacket structures. The one-stop shipment harbor basin configured for the project features an ultra-high shipment efficiency that is the first of its kind at home and abroad. The project will be built into the country's only manufacturing base for offshore wind power converter stations and floating offshore wind power. Once completed, the project will become the production base with the most complete range and largest annual output of large offshore oil and gas platforms and offshore wind power equipment nationwide, and the largest single offshore wind power equipment manufacturing base in China.
