On March 27, the Cyberspace Administration Office of the CPC Changning Municipal Committee and the Cybersecurity Brigade of the Changning Public Security Bureau jointly carried out a special legal-awareness campaign in Dongfeng Square under the theme "Crack Down on Online Rumors, Build a Clean Cyberspace Together." Staff from the Cyberspace Administration Office and police officers explained to the public the definition, categories, and identification methods of online rumors, and, drawing on case studies, popularized the legal liability that may be incurred for fabricating and spreading online rumors. The campaign aimed to encourage the public to strengthen their self-discipline in cyberspace by "not fabricating rumors, not spreading rumors, and not believing rumors," and to raise public awareness of online rumors.

02 Corporate Outreach

On March 24, the Cybersecurity Brigade went to Changxun Network Technology Co., Ltd. to carry out a campaign against online rumors. Police officers distributed leaflets and gave on-site explanations to company employees, guiding them to consciously resist online rumors. They also emphasized the important role of media enterprises in safeguarding cybersecurity, and guided the enterprise to consciously become a practitioner and promoter of online civilization and to jointly maintain a secure online environment.

Through illustrated brochures, police officers popularized for internet cafe owners and users the harms of online rumors, how to identify them, and the consequences of fabricating and spreading them. They also advised the public to actively resist harmful online information, regulate their personal online behavior, consciously guard against online rumors, and promptly identify and report rumors. At the same time, police officers fostered a safe, civilized, and green online environment by displaying content on outdoor LED screens and setting up internet cafe computer desktops.

The Changning Public Security Bureau will continue to crack down in accordance with the law on illegal and criminal acts of fabricating and spreading online rumors in connection with trending cases and events, further purify the online environment, foster a clean cyberspace, safeguard national political security and overall social stability, and make every effort to protect the lawful rights and interests of the people.
