After 3 days and 3 nights of transportation, 5 days of hoisting and lowering into the shaft, and 4 days of underground installation, following a series of acceptance and preparation work, on March 21, the "Tielong No. 7" shield machine was successfully launched on the left line of the Xiawangbu-Fu'erya section (referred to as the Wangfo section) of the second phase of the Qingdao Metro Line 2 project, marking an acceleration in the construction of the second phase of the Qingdao Metro Line 2 project.

The "Tielong No. 7" shield machine launched this time will start from the small-mileage end of Fu'erya Station, tunneling east to west along Jinshui Road, then on the right line it will cross over the single-tube single-track section of the Line 15 turnback line section, run parallel with the Line 15 turnback line section, and finally enter Xiawangbu Station, the largest station in the second phase of the Line 2 project. The left line of the section is 899.2 meters long, and the right line is 901.5 meters long, with 1 cross passage. The rail surface depth of the line is 16.3 meters to 22.3 meters.
The main drive of the 'Tielong No. 7' shield machine was debugged in Changsha and assembled in Yancheng. To ensure the shield machine could be launched as early as possible, we split this giant dragon into 13 parts, and it took 3 days and 3 nights to transport it to Qingdao. The most difficult part was an ultra-wide shield body of 6.48 meters; we coordinated multiple times with the highway and traffic police authorities to resolve road occupation and other issues, and only then successfully completed this transportation and ensured the lowering of 'Tielong No. 7' into the shaft," said Zhang Shaobin, shield manager at the construction site of the second phase of the Qingdao Metro Line 2 project of the Fourth Company of China Railway 20th Bureau. "The 'Tielong No. 7' shield machine has a total weight of 550 tons. In accordance with the requirements of Qingdao Metro Group, it underwent a completely new upgrade and transformation, in which the cutterhead, front shield, middle shield, and tail shield are all newly manufactured. For example, the 18-inch single-disc roller cutters were upgraded to 19-inch single-disc roller cutters, overall increasing the strength of the cutterhead to better adapt to Qingdao's ultra-hard rock geological conditions.
Hoisting and lowering into the shaft completed in 5 days, overcoming unfavorable factors such as a narrow site
Due to the narrow surrounding site, we used a 350-ton crawler crane and took nearly 5 days to complete the hoisting and lowering of 'Tielong No. 7' into the shaft. At present, nearly 100 workers are on site, making every effort to ensure the shield launch," Zhang Shaobin introduced. Since entering the site, the project has overcome difficulties such as numerous pipelines in the construction area, a complex surrounding environment, and many risk sources, firmly established awareness of the milestone schedule targets, reversed the construction schedule, and planned ahead. In light of the key and difficult points of construction, special construction plans for shield machine hoisting, shield launch, and tunneling were prepared and fully demonstrated and studied. During the equipment manufacturing stage, a shield supervision team was established to station at the factory for whole-process supervision, strictly controlling the factory acceptance and launch acceptance. During the equipment arrival and assembly stage, a left-line shield operation team was established to solidly advance team building and successfully complete the shield machine adaptability review, shield machine debugging, safety assessment acceptance, and shield launch condition acceptance, laying a solid foundation for the shield launch and subsequent smooth tunneling.
With the launch of 'Tielong No. 7', 6 of the 8 shield machines for the second phase of Line 2 are now in use, and the construction of the second phase of Line 2 is accelerating. The second phase of the Qingdao Metro Line 2 project is about 8.9 kilometers long and has 8 stations, starting at Licun Park Station and ending at Shiboyuan Station.
