On the 26th, China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group announced that the first pile of the main tower of the Taoyaomen Road-Rail Dual-Purpose Bridge, part of the newly built Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway project in Zhejiang Province, was poured and completed that day. The bridge, constructed by the bureau, is the world's largest-span road-rail dual-purpose hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge, marking that the bridge construction has entered the stage of full-scale construction.

　　As a controlling project of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, the Taoyaomen Road-Rail Dual-Purpose Bridge's No. 5 main tower adopts a foundation of 20 super-large-diameter bored piles with a diameter of 3.5 meters. The pile lengths range from 24 meters to 48 meters, with the pile bottoms embedded in slightly weathered rock strata. The bored pile poured this time is 26 meters long and required continuous pouring of 310 cubic meters of underwater concrete. The total concrete volume for the pile foundation of the No. 5 main tower is expected to fill a standard football field to a height of one meter.

　　The Taoyaomen Road-Rail Dual-Purpose Bridge connects Fuchi Island and Cezi Island. As the world's largest-span road-rail dual-purpose hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge, the bridge adopts a same-level arrangement for road and rail, with highways and railways passing on the same level: the central box carries high-speed rail, while the side boxes on both sides carry separated highway lanes. The railway is a double-track passenger dedicated line with a design speed of 250 km/h; the highway is a two-way six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 km/h.

　　The Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway is a supporting transport corridor of the "Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan Open Grand Corridor." Once opened to traffic, it will end the history of Zhoushan having no railway transportation. The high-speed rail journey from Ningbo to Zhoushan will take only 26 minutes at the fastest, while the fastest time from Hangzhou to Zhoushan will also be shortened to 77 minutes. This is of great significance for strengthening the integration effect between Ningbo and Zhoushan and accelerating the construction of the Ningbo metropolitan area.
