On March 19, the front-page lead article of People's Daily, titled "Major Projects Advance Solidly," noted that stabilizing investment, promoting development, and strengthening confidence are essential. A batch of major engineering projects across various regions are currently advancing solidly, injecting sustained momentum into consolidating and reinforcing the positive trend of economic recovery.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized: "We must continue to consolidate and reinforce the positive trend of economic recovery, boost the whole society's confidence in development, and Party members and officials must first of all firm up their confidence and get down to solid work. We must seize every favorable opportunity, make use of every favorable condition, and once we are sure of the direction, roll up our sleeves and work hard, so as to bring out the drive of all sectors." This year's Government Work Report proposed "actively expanding effective investment" and "focusing support on scientific and technological innovation, new infrastructure, energy conservation, emission reduction and carbon reduction, and strengthening efforts to shore up weak links in economic and social fields such as people's livelihood."

The first paragraph of the article introduces the breakthrough of the Zhanjiang Bay undersea tunnel on the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau Group: it was successfully holed through, crossing the sea and entering the city. On March 15, the Zhanjiang Bay undersea tunnel of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through, setting a domestic record for the longest single-head boring distance in undersea high-speed railway shield construction. After the high-speed railway opens to traffic, Guangzhou and the urban area of Zhanjiang will be reachable from each other in 90 minutes.

The Second Jiaozhou Bay Undersea Tunnel Project in Qingdao, Shandong, is under accelerated construction; the shield machine has now bored to about 60 meters below sea level.
