The Jiashan Urban Railway is an important component of the Shanghai–Suzhou–Jiaxing Intercity Railway, the first rapid railway in the Yangtze River Delta to span two provinces and one municipality. The project features joint road–rail construction: an underground highway tunnel, a road subgrade at ground level, and an elevated urban railway bridge crossing the river above ground. Its spatial structure is complex, with high technical requirements and great construction difficulty.

　　After the project is completed, Jiaxing will gain a new rapid rail transit corridor in its north connecting to Shanghai, providing direct access to the Yangtze River Delta Integrated Demonstration Zone and the Hongqiao Business District. This will further strengthen Jiaxing's connections with the Demonstration Zone and Shanghai, help build a multi-level regional rail transit system, and accelerate the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
