From March 5 to 7, a 9-member research team of the Ningde Municipal CPPCC, composed of Lin Yanfeng, Vice Chairman of the Ningde Municipal CPPCC in Fujian Province; Lin Jijian, Chairman of the Gutian County CPPCC; Zhang Deli, Chairman of the Pingnan County CPPCC; and Xu Libin, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Ningde Municipal CPPCC, conducted research in Fuzhou, Putian, Sanming, the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone and other places on the topic of "strengthening Ningde-Taiwan economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation and promoting the building of the Cross-Strait Integrated Development Demonstration Zone."

　　Lin Yanfeng expressed the hope that through the research, advanced experience and typical practices from various places would be absorbed; that Ningde's actual conditions would be combined and its advantages leveraged; and that exchange and interaction projects would be carefully designed and cultivated to continuously deepen Ningde-Taiwan exchanges and interactions in the economic, cultural, sports, tourism and other fields.

　　Sanyuan District is located in the central-western part of Fujian Province and is the political, economic and cultural center of Sanming City. In recent years, Sanyuan District has drawn on the expertise of Taiwanese teams and, in accordance with the working philosophy of "joint home building, joint action for people's livelihood and joint creation of demonstrations," actively carried out Fujian-Taiwan rural construction and rural entrepreneurship practices, and worked to build a Fujian-Taiwan rural construction and rural entrepreneurship model county around a rural revitalization demonstration line involving one subdistrict, two towns and a total of eight villages.

　　In Xiaojiao Village, Liexi Subdistrict, Sanyuan District, the team of Cai Xingjue, Vice President of the Taiwan Homestay Inn Association, settled in 2019 and provided accompanying services ranging from design and supervision to industrial development. Today, Xiaojiao Village is a well-known local internet-famous check-in spot and has been awarded honors such as "National Forest Village," "Fujian Provincial Forest Village," "Fujian Provincial Rural Revitalization Pilot Village" and "Cross-Strait Rural Integrated Development Demonstration Village."

　　In 2022, the local authorities also created in Yanqian Town a "living home, entrepreneurship paradise and learning campus" for Taiwanese village-stationed teams based on the concept of openness and sharing. On the basis of fully respecting the usage needs of the Taiwanese teams, functional areas such as a courtyard lecture hall, internship classrooms, handicraft workshops, and canteens and dormitories were fully equipped. Two batches have successively moved in, including a total of 41 students from six universities in Taiwan—Dayeh University, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, National Chin-Yi University of Technology, Chinese Culture University, Feng Chia University and Chihlee University of Technology—and 13 Taiwanese rural construction and rural entrepreneurship experts.

　　Local officials stated that, relying on cultural tourism resources such as the world-renowned Wanshouyan ancient cultural site, the world's largest Castanopsis kawakamii forest park, the well-known Zhongshan Eighteen Ancient Villages, the recently renowned Xiaojiao Cross-Strait Rural Integrated Development Demonstration Village and the thousand-year-old ancient kilns, they will coordinate various special funds and integrate the advantages of various departments to carry out key rectification and upgrading projects such as the creation elements for a rural construction and rural entrepreneurship model county, and to create new highlights and new calling cards for the rural revitalization work of Sanyuan District.

　　Meizhou Island in Putian City is home to the world's ** Mazu temple and is also the birthplace of Mazu culture. For thousands of years, Mazu culture, with the spiritual essence of "virtue, doing good and great love," has become a spiritual bond linking compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese. Across the Taiwan Strait, "people share the same roots and deities share the same origins." In Taiwan, Mazu believers number as many as 16 million, accounting for about two-thirds of Taiwan's population.

　　In recent years, Putian City has annually held a series of activities such as New Year prayers and Lantern Festival blessings, enriched and expanded folk exchange activities such as marathons, music seasons and cycling tours, and consolidated the "bridgehead" of grassroots exchanges. It has actively cultivated Fujian-Taiwan study tours and guided Taiwanese talent to jointly implement projects such as the Mazu cultural heritage protection project, building a "heart-to-heart bridge" for Taiwanese compatriots to integrate into the mainland. It has used Mazu cultural tourism resources to drive the development of coastal tourism resources and island cultural tourism resources, cultivated gathering points for Taiwanese entrepreneurship and employment, and expanded "new carriers" for economic and trade cooperation.

　　Local officials stated that they will continue to do a good job in the three areas of "connectivity, benefits and bonds," strive to expand exchange channels, truly bring cross-strait Mazu cultural exchanges into the hearts of Taiwanese compatriots, exchange, make friends and connect hearts with Taiwanese compatriots, and enhance Taiwanese compatriots' sense of identity with and belonging to the country and the nation.

　　The Taiwan Entrepreneurship Park, located in the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, was put into operation in August 2015. It covers an area of 86,000 square meters and consists of 36 garden-villa-style buildings. With the goal of creating a highland for modern service industry development featuring industrial clustering and integrated services and a "common home" for young entrepreneurs from both sides of the strait, it is planned to include functional areas such as the Cross-Strait Youth Entrepreneurship Base, the Technology Enterprise Incubation Center, the Cross-Border E-Commerce Industrial Park and the SME Headquarters.

　　A relevant person in charge of the Taiwan Entrepreneurship Park said that Pingtan's role as a "pioneering zone" and the ** home for Taiwanese compatriots and enterprises landing in the mainland will be leveraged to build the Taiwan Entrepreneurship Park into a cross-strait youth entrepreneurship base, a cross-strait cultural exchange base and an innovation service base for Taiwanese compatriots and enterprises.

　　In Fuzhou, the research team visited the Taiwan-funded enterprise Jianing Cosmetics (Fuzhou) Co., Ltd. to learn about the formulation and implementation of policies benefiting Taiwan; and visited the Fujian-Taiwan Sports Taiwan Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Base to learn about the construction, development and operation of the base.

　　The reporter learned that since 2012, the Fujian-Taiwan Sports Taiwan Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Base has focused on cross-strait sports cultural exchanges. Over more than ten years, it has contributed to cross-strait sports cultural exchanges through various cultural carriers such as study tours, competitions, training and exchanges, and has held eleven Cross-Strait Taekwondo Exchange Competitions. The person in charge of the base said that as of now, the base has introduced 8 Taiwanese youth enterprises and 17 Taiwanese young people.
