On February 20, 2024, the Save Stonehenge organization lost its second legal challenge against the Stonehenge tunnel project. The Stonehenge tunnel project was allowed to proceed. The goal of the Stonehenge tunnel project is to solve the congestion problem on the A303 road in the UK. The project plan was proposed in 2014 and included a 3 km tunnel that would pass through the Stonehenge heritage area.

Because the tunnel is close to the Stonehenge heritage site, the plan met strong opposition from various sectors. In 2020, the UK Supreme Court rejected the Stonehenge tunnel project plan that had been approved by the UK government, bringing the entire project to a standstill; it was not until July 17, 2023, that the UK Department for Transport again approved a new A303 Stonehenge tunnel plan, but the new plan soon faced targeted legal challenges and opposition again.
