At 23:50 on March 4, with the smooth pouring of the final batch of concrete for the bored pile, the bored pile construction of the main bridge of the Songhua River Grand Bridge in the Southwest Ring Section of the Harbin Metropolitan Area was fully completed, 24 days ahead of the original pile foundation schedule. This marks a key step forward in the bridge structure construction of the project.
The Southwest Ring Section of the Harbin Metropolitan Area Ring Expressway has a total length of 90.742 kilometers. It is a two-way, four-lane expressway with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. It starts at Zhenghuang Village, Niujia Town, Wuchang City, and ends at the north of Wuzhan Town, Zhaodong City, connecting to Harbin through the North Ring Section of the Harbin Metropolitan Area Ring Expressway.
The Songhua River Grand Bridge (K65+307.050 section) in the Southwest Ring Section is a key node project of this project and also the self-anchored suspension bridge with the largest span in China's cold regions. The bridge has a total length of 6.8 kilometers, and the main bridge is a 550-meter self-anchored double-tower suspension bridge. The main girder adopts a steel box girder design, the main bridge towers adopt a reinforced concrete portal frame, and the foundation adopts a bored cast-in-place pile group foundation.
The bored piles of the main bridge of the Songhua River Grand Bridge in the Southwest Ring Section are the longest and largest-diameter bored piles in the Songhua River basin, and construction officially began in December 2023. As the foundational work of the bridge, its construction and production faced multiple difficulties, including high risk of hole collapse, difficult verticality control, a narrow construction site, large variations in drilling geology, long underwater continuous pouring time, and extreme low-temperature weather. To ensure the smooth construction of the bored piles, the project management department of the A3 section of the Southwest Ring Line of Longjian Road & Bridge Co., Ltd., which is responsible for construction, made detailed and thorough arrangements in multiple aspects, including drawing review, construction organization, early-stage material selection, test mix proportions, construction technology, safety and quality control, and emergency measures. Practical and feasible construction technical plans were formulated for each process, the operation sequence of bored piles was reasonably arranged during the process, technical indicators were strictly controlled, and technical key points and safety measures were ensured to be implemented.
