Today (March 7), as the cold air moves southward, precipitation in southern China continues to shrink, and the central and eastern regions will usher in widespread sunny weather. In terms of temperature, temperatures in the South China region will continue to drop, with maximum temperatures in many places falling below 20°C, and the feel shifting from warm to cool; the public should add clothing to keep warm.
Most of the North is sunny and dry; precipitation in the South will develop again starting tomorrow
Yesterday, precipitation was scarce across most of the country, with only light snow and locally moderate snow in parts of eastern Tibet, northern the Sichuan-Xizang Plateau, northern Shanxi, central Inner Mongolia and other places; light rain occurred in Fujian, Chongqing and other places.
Today, precipitation in the South continues to shrink, and most of the central and eastern regions will maintain a sunny weather pattern. The National Meteorological Center forecasts that parts of central and eastern Inner Mongolia, northern Hebei, central Heilongjiang, the Ili River Valley in Xinjiang and the western mountainous areas of southern Xinjiang, western and eastern Tibet, southern Qinghai, northern the Sichuan-Xizang Plateau and other places will see light snow or sleet, among which parts of central and eastern Heilongjiang, southeastern Tibet, northern the Sichuan-Xizang Plateau and other places will see moderate to heavy snow. Parts of southern Tibet, most of Shandong, central and northern Jiangsu, western the Sichuan Basin, most of Chongqing, northwestern Guizhou, the southeastern coastal areas of Guangxi, southern Guangdong, Hainan Island, Taiwan Island and other places will see light rain.
After a brief clearing, precipitation in the South will develop and increase again from the southwest region starting tomorrow, gradually spreading to Jiangnan, South China and other places. It is expected that parts of eastern Heilongjiang, eastern Jilin, the Tianshan region of Xinjiang and the western mountainous areas of southern Xinjiang, southern and eastern Tibet, southern Qinghai, southern Gansu, northern the Sichuan-Xizang Plateau and other places will see light snow or sleet, among which parts of southeastern Heilongjiang, southeastern Tibet, southeastern Qinghai, northern the Sichuan-Xizang Plateau and other places will see moderate to heavy snow. Parts of the Sichuan Basin, Chongqing, most of Guizhou, most of Hunan, southern Jiangxi, South China, most of Taiwan Island and other places will see light rain.
The day after tomorrow, parts of the southern Xinjiang Basin, eastern Tibet, eastern Qinghai, central and southern Gansu, northern the Sichuan-Xizang Plateau and other places will see light to moderate snow or sleet, with locally heavy snow. Parts of southeastern the Northwest region, eastern the Southwest region, southern Jiangnan, South China and other places will see light to moderate rain, among which parts of eastern Guangxi, western Guangdong and other places will see heavy rain.
Overall, precipitation will be frequent in areas south of the Yangtze River over the next week. Local residents should remember to carry rain gear when going out and take precautions against the adverse effects of slippery roads and reduced visibility on transportation. Meanwhile, most areas north of the Yangtze River will continue to maintain a weather pattern with scarce rain and snow, and the air will also become dry; relative humidity in many places in the afternoon may be only around 30%, so it is recommended that people replenish water in a timely manner.
Many places in South China shift from warm to cool; most of the North will warm up amid temperature fluctuations
In terms of temperature, as the cold air continues to move southward, yesterday southern Jiangnan, South China, eastern Yunnan and other places saw temperature drops. Among them, because of the obvious warming earlier, South China and other places left ample room for cooling, with maximum temperatures in many places dropping by about 10°C.
Today and tomorrow, temperatures in the South China region will continue to fall, with maximum temperatures in many cities such as Guangzhou and Nanning dropping below 20°C, shifting from warm to cool; the public should add clothing to keep warm.
At the same time, another new wave of cold air will affect the North today and tomorrow, but its intensity is relatively weak and the temperature drop will be small. Overall, most of the North will warm up amid temperature fluctuations over the next week, and temperatures in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and areas to the north will successively reach recent highs early next week. Temperatures in North China and the Huang-Huai region may also hit new highs for this year, and Xi'an may see its local **20°C+ of the year on the 13th.
However, it is worth noting that under sunny weather, the rise in maximum temperatures in most of the North will be more pronounced than the rise in minimum temperatures, and the diurnal temperature difference will gradually increase; the public should adjust clothing in a timely manner according to temperature changes.
