On the morning of March 4, as the cutterhead of the "Fuxing No. 2" shield machine rotated out of the tunnel, the right-line shield tunneling between Shitong Road Station and Yucun South Road Station on Shijiazhuang Metro Line 4 Phase I was successfully received. This marks the double-line breakthrough of the first tunnel section of Line 4 Phase I, representing a new breakthrough in the project construction.
At the shield receiving site at Yucun South Road Station, about 18 meters underground, a huge cutterhead with a diameter of 6.47 meters rotated out with mud blocks, and the builders celebrated joyfully the exciting moment of the tunnel breakthrough. The left-line tunnel, which was completed in January, can now be seen extending and taking shape, winding forward, more intuitively demonstrating the results of shield construction.
On November 2, 2023, the "Fuxing No. 2" shield machine was launched from Shitong Road Station, beginning a tunneling journey of more than four months for the right line of the tunnel between Shitong Road Station and Yucun South Road Station.
The right line of the tunnel between Shitong Road Station and Yucun South Road Station is about 1,109 meters long and lies in medium-coarse sand and silty clay strata, involving multiple risk sources such as underpassing tunnels and pipelines, making construction difficult. To ensure safe and smooth tunneling of the shield machine, the Municipal Rail Transit Group and the construction unit formulated effective management and construction plans. During construction, a remote information control system for the shield was established to monitor shield parameters in real time, achieving intelligent tunneling and standardized management. During tunneling, the clay shock method was used to control settlement, achieving zero warning for surface and building settlement and ensuring the successful breakthrough of the section. Next, the "Fuxing No. 2" shield machine will be relocated, debugged, and maintained, and is scheduled to tunnel the section from Shitong Road Station to Youyi South Street Station.
Alongside the tunnel construction, station construction above ground is also progressing. At Yucun South Road Station, the starting station of Line 4 Phase I, workers are busy with rebar tying and main structure construction such as the middle slab and roof slab. Yucun South Road Station is located on the southwest side of the intersection of Xinshi South Road and planned Huiming Road. It is an underground two-story island-type station with a total length of 395.2 meters and a standard section width of 20.7 meters. It has two entrances and two sets of ventilation pavilions and is constructed using the open-cut method.
Currently, all 20 stations of Line 4 Phase I have entered construction, of which 18 stations have entered the main structure construction stage. Shitong Road Station has achieved the capping of its main structure, and the remaining stations are carrying out retaining pile construction, earthwork excavation, and main structure construction to varying degrees.
