Recently, after 11 months of arduous efforts, the inclined shaft of the Huayingshan Tunnel on the Xi'an-Dazhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway 15th Bureau Group, was successfully completed. This marks an important breakthrough in the construction of the Xi'an-Dazhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway and lays a solid foundation for achieving the goal of completion and opening to traffic in 2028.
The Huayingshan Tunnel is a major and difficult control project on the entire Xi'an-Dazhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway line, with a total length of 12.15 kilometers. The inclined shaft of the Huayingshan Tunnel is located in Gaogong Village, Qingshui Town, Dazhu County. It is a trackless two-lane transport passage, with a length of 1,192 meters. The inclined shaft has complex geological characteristics, and its construction is difficult and high-risk.

In order to ensure that the inclined shaft is completed as early as possible and construction enters the main tunnel, since official excavation began on April 3, 2023, the project construction party has strictly followed the concept of standardized management and construction, adopted construction methods such as smooth blasting excavation and trackless transport, and focused on strengthening monitoring and measurement of the inclined shaft throughout the construction process as well as advanced geological forecasting, ensuring that inclined shaft construction is safe, controllable, smooth, and orderly.
A relevant person in charge of China Railway 15th Bureau Group introduced that after the inclined shaft is completed, it will add two working faces to the main tunnel construction of the Huayingshan Tunnel, which can greatly accelerate the tunnel excavation speed.
According to Zhou Jin, person in charge of the inclined shaft of the Huayingshan Tunnel, the completion of the inclined shaft plays a key role in the overall construction progress of the Huayingshan Tunnel. After completion, it will greatly shorten the construction period for full breakthrough of the Huayingshan Tunnel. After the inclined shaft enters the main tunnel, it will serve as the main passage for muck removal, ventilation, and drainage during excavation of the main tunnel, ensuring normal and stable excavation of the main tunnel of the Huayingshan Tunnel.

The Xi'an-Dazhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway has a total length of 739 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming corridor, one of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" corridors in the national high-speed railway network. Once completed, it will greatly improve the passenger and freight transport service level in areas along the line and is of great significance to the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the large-scale development of the western region, as well as to helping rural revitalization.
