在延河桥头执勤的交警李东东说，以往即使有红绿灯他们也得轮流指挥交通，但拥堵仍时常发生。大桥加宽后，昨日下午红绿灯就让车流井井有条了。据悉，延安市政府2012年10月30日开始对延河大桥进行改造加宽。紧邻旧桥下游新建一座与老桥相同桥型，建成后延河大桥总宽度为27.2米，机动车道由2车道加宽成4车道，桥头东侧设置地下人行通道，总投资约7000万元。
