CCTV News (Xinwen Lianbo): During this year's Spring Festival holiday, cross-regional passenger flows across the country reached nearly 2.3 billion person-trips, with both passenger and vehicle volumes hitting record highs for the Spring Festival travel rush. Behind these massive flows, digital technology is becoming an important safeguard for safe and orderly holiday travel.

Over the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, China's railways carried a total of 99.46 million passengers, with single-day passenger volumes setting new record highs for the Spring Festival travel rush on four consecutive days.

Passenger flows repeatedly hit new highs while transport remained stable and orderly. This was made possible by the newly upgraded railway 12306 system, which can handle nearly 90 billion visits per day and transmits ticket presale and waitlist information to passenger transport departments in real time, allowing dynamic adjustment of transport capacity.

In key areas such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, an extra train can go from demand submission to entering service in under two hours. During the Spring Festival holiday, the national railway operated a maximum of 2,265 additional passenger trains in a single day, setting a record high for transport capacity deployment.

During this year's Spring Festival holiday, self-driving travel accounted for 86% of trips, and on the sixth day of the first lunar month, national expressway traffic exceeded 70 million vehicle-trips, reaching a historic peak. Expressway service areas use ground sensing systems to monitor parking space occupancy at all times, flexibly redirecting vehicles to improve parking efficiency.

During the Spring Festival, in accordance with unified deployment by the Ministry of Public Security, traffic management departments dispatched local forces to strengthen monitoring and analysis of road network conditions, promptly deploy police officers, deploy them scientifically, and intensify road traffic control in key periods and sections. Railway and civil aviation public security organs across the country used big data platforms to assess passenger flows in advance and coordinate risk warnings, command and dispatch, incident handling and emergency response. They strengthened patrol and prevention at stations, trains, airports and other key areas with a visible police presence, continued to investigate and eliminate various safety hazards, and made every effort to ensure passengers travel safely and smoothly.
