On February 19, local time, King Felipe VI of Spain met in Madrid with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, who was on a visit to Spain.

King Felipe VI asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, and said that 50 years ago, his father and the Chinese leaders at that time jointly opened diplomatic relations between the two countries. Over the past 50 years, Spain-China relations have developed rapidly, practical cooperation has advanced smoothly, and personnel exchanges have become increasingly close. Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to King Felipe VI, and said that last year the heads of state of the two countries exchanged congratulatory messages on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain, providing strategic guidance for bilateral relations.
