On February 18 local time, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas in Vienna. The two sides conducted candid, in-depth and constructive communication on implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state at their San Francisco meeting, advancing bilateral counternarcotics and law enforcement cooperation, and resolving issues of mutual concern.

Wang Xiaohong noted that President Xi Jinping and President Biden held a historic meeting in San Francisco, opening up a future-oriented "San Francisco Vision." He expressed the hope that both sides will take the important consensus of the two heads of state as the fundamental guideline, uphold the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and clear obstacles for bilateral counternarcotics and law enforcement cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Wang Xiaohong urged the U.S. side to stop unwarranted harassment and interrogation of Chinese students studying in the United States and to ensure that Chinese citizens enjoy fair treatment upon entry and full dignity; to take practical and effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese diplomatic and consular missions and personnel in the United States; to lift visa restrictions on relevant Chinese institutions and personnel; and to correct the erroneous practice of listing China as a "major drug source country."

The two sides agreed to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, maintain dialogue and cooperation in the fields of counternarcotics and law enforcement on the basis of mutual respect, managing differences and mutually beneficial cooperation, value each other's concerns, properly resolve problems, and contribute to the stable development of China-U.S. relations.
