On June 25, at the entrance of the Yuanlaiju residential community in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, staff from Shenzhen Water were carrying out emergency repairs on a pit that had collapsed that day. At 7 a.m. that day, the sidewalk at the entrance of the Yuanlaiju residential community in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, suddenly caved in, forming a pit about 3 meters deep and 1 meter wide, due to the bursting of an underground sewage pipe; a grandfather and his grandson passing by fell into the pit and were injured. Just one day earlier, a sunken area had also appeared for the same reason in the green belt near the sidewalk at the intersection of Fenghuang Road and Huali Road in Luohu District, Shenzhen. Since the beginning of this year, Shenzhen has seen 8 sinkhole accidents, causing 6 deaths and multiple injuries.
