八钢于2011年9月与瓦轴集团签订战略合作协议，协议轴承种类达1066种，达到国产种类的95%。合作协议共签订了9个项目，其中2011年3个项目，分别应用在八钢轧钢机组的初轧、冷轧和中厚板生产线，经过半年跟踪，完全能够满足生产线的要求，全部通过了试用。
过去八钢采用进口轴承价格高，供货期长。采用瓦轴集团产品后，不仅缩短了供货周期，价格也仅为进口轴承的30%左右，每年为八钢节约成本30%以上。
