On January 22, the right tube of the Luyang Extra-Long Tunnel in the C1 section of the Chongqing Wuyunkai Expressway, constructed by CCCC Road & Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., was successfully holed through. This major breakthrough marks the countdown to the opening of the entire line. This milestone progress has laid a solid foundation for the early opening of the entire Chongqing Wuyunkai Expressway.

It is understood that the Luyang Extra-Long Tunnel is a controlling project of the Chongqing Wuyunkai Expressway, located in Yunyang County and Luyang Town of Chongqing. The tunnel is designed as two separate tubes, with the left tube 4,263 meters long and the right tube 4,285 meters long. The geological conditions in the tunnel area are complex, and the integrity and self-stabilizing capacity of the surrounding rock are poor, resulting in great construction difficulty and high safety risks.

Facing numerous challenges, the CCCC Road & Bridge Construction project team, under the guidance of the First Brigade of the Engineering Quality Supervision Detachment of the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Corps, ensured the safety and quality of tunnel construction through scientific management and optimized resource allocation. The project team dynamically adjusted the surrounding rock grade based on advanced geological forecasting of the tunnel and continuously optimized construction techniques. They also deployed a series of modern intelligent mechanical equipment, such as crawler-type anchor drilling rigs, three-boom rock drilling jumbos, and self-propelled hydraulic arch installation trolleys. Combined with information-based measures such as real-name registration for tunnel entry, video monitoring, and automatic fan frequency control systems, they achieved "replacing personnel with machinery and reducing personnel through automation," ensuring the orderly progress of tunnel construction.

In addition, the project department introduced a complete sewage recycling treatment system, achieving environmental protection results by reusing treated water.

After the project is completed, the Wuyunkai Expressway will be of great significance for accelerating the development of tourism resources in Hongchiba and along the route, promoting the development of the urban agglomeration in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area of northeastern Chongqing, and improving regional traffic transfer and throughput capacity. At the same time, it will also help rural revitalization in areas along the route and drive local economic and social development.
