Breakthrough Site

On January 18, with the successful completion of the final drilling, the west tunnel of the Fenggang Avenue to Rongjiang 4th Road river-crossing tunnel project in Rongjiang New District, Ganzhou, was successfully holed through. At present, the project is intensively carrying out the excavation of the east tunnel and the follow-up work after the breakthrough of the west tunnel, and the main line lining of the open-cut section on the south bank is being accelerated.

Since entering the site, the construction party has always given top priority to safety and quality, taken the project schedule milestones as the goal, implemented a grid-based management system, and strictly deployed production work. It has overcome difficulties such as the minimum overburden thickness of a domestic underwater mining-method tunnel, high excavation construction difficulty, easy softening and disintegration of sandstone, and high underwater flood-control risks, and has monitored the tunnel excavation in real time through information systems such as advanced geological forecasting, strictly guarding the construction safety line and successfully completing the milestone of holing through the west tunnel.

The Ganzhou Rongjiang Tunnel Project is a key livelihood project in Ganzhou, with a total investment of 1.799 billion yuan. Its main construction contents are open-cut structures, mined structures, and ground roads, with a total length of 2.412 kilometers (including 1.7 kilometers of tunnel, 0.8 kilometers of ground road, and 1.3 kilometers of four ramps). It is the seventh underwater tunnel in China and the first in Jiangxi Province constructed by the mining method. Up to now, all foundation pit excavation for the project has been completed, 84% of the engineering volume of the open-cut structure has been completed, the west line of the mined section has been holed through, and 74% of the engineering volume of the east line of the mined section has been completed. The whole line is expected to be holed through by the end of December 2024.

After the project is completed, it will further improve the backbone road network structure of Rongjiang New District, strengthen the connection between Rongjiang New District and important urban functional areas such as Ganzhou West Railway Station and Huangjin Airport, promote the formation of a new urban development axis, drive land development in surrounding areas, and promote the rapid development of the regional economy.
