On January 10, President Xi Jinping and Tunisian President Kais Saied exchanged congratulatory messages, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping noted that China and Tunisia share a profound traditional friendship. Over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, no matter how the international landscape has changed, bilateral relations have always developed in a healthy and stable manner. In recent years, the two sides have increasingly consolidated political mutual trust and achieved fruitful results in exchanges and cooperation across various fields. During the China-Arab States Summit held in December 2022, I met with President Kais Saied and reached important consensus, charting the course for the development of China-Tunisia relations. I attach great importance to the development of China-Tunisia relations and am willing to work with President Kais Saied, taking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point, to carry forward the traditional friendship between China and Tunisia and push for new and greater development in the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Kais Saied stated that Tunisia and China have long enjoyed friendship and their cooperation has been highly productive. In recent years, the two sides have upheld common values and ideals, attached importance to consolidating and expanding bilateral relations, and cooperated ever more closely in international and regional affairs. Tunisia is willing to work with China to build a new type of partnership covering all fields with broad prospects, and to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level.

On the same day, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council and Tunisian Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani exchanged congratulatory messages. Li Qiang said that I am willing to work hand in hand with Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and constantly enrich the substance of China-Tunisia friendly and cooperative relations.

Ahmed Hachani stated that Tunisia looks forward to continuing to work with China to enhance friendship between the two countries, maintain close exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and serve the common interests of the two peoples.
