Construction of Phase II of Shenzhen Metro Line 16 has made further progress. On January 2, 2024, the main structure of the Xikeng Depot of the Phase II project of Shenzhen Metro Line 16 was successfully topped out, marking a breakthrough in the project construction.

The Xikeng Depot is located south of the under-construction Eastern Transit Expressway and west of Huiyan Road. The depot is a single-story frame structure with a site area of approximately 4.77 hectares and a building area of 40,504 m². The depot is equipped with 6 train parking and inspection tracks, 2 weekly/monthly inspection tracks, 1 manual car-washing track, and 1 engineering vehicle track in the throat area. The upper part of the depot is for property development, and the main structure reserves conditions for future over-track development.

Since March 2023, after all utility relocation for the Xikeng Depot was completed, the project team steadily advanced the construction. After overcoming the impacts of various factors such as road realignment and utility relocation affecting the existing Pingyan Railway:

On April 8, 2023, all pile foundation construction was completed;

On June 5, 2023, the construction of the ** first cover slab was completed;

On November 27, 2023, all pile cap construction was completed;

On December 7, 2023, all frame column construction was completed, and the main structure construction entered the critical stage of topping out.

The Phase II alignment of Shenzhen Metro Line 16 starts from Dayun Station, the starting point of Phase I of Line 16, and runs along Longgang Avenue, Changjiangpu Road, Wanfu Road, Gongyuan Road, Shahe Road, and Huiyan Middle Road, ending at Xikeng Station.

The line is approximately 9.46 km long, with 8 stations (including 2 interchange stations), and is fully underground. One new depot, the Xikeng Depot, is built.

It is expected that after the Phase II of Shenzhen Metro Line 16 is completed in 2025, it will effectively strengthen the connection between Longgang Central City and Yuanshan area, realize the "internal cohesion and external connectivity" of the eastern center, and at the same time meet the travel needs of residents in Henggang/Yuanshan area, helping to drive urban renewal along the line!
