On January 3, Pier No. 3 of the Mozhai Wujiang Grand Bridge on the Chongqing-Hunan (Yuxiang) Double-Track Expressway, located in Hanjia Subdistrict of Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, successfully completed the capping of its cable tower, marking a new breakthrough in the攻坚 (critical assault) on the controlling project of the Yuxiang Double-Track Expressway. The bridge is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of June 2024.

The Mozhai Wujiang Grand Bridge crosses the Wujiang River and National Highway G211 and is a controlling project for the entire line, with a total length of 708 meters. Its Pier No. 3 column reaches 216 meters in height, and from the capped cable tower to the Wujiang River surface is 320 meters, equivalent to a 106-story building, and it is known as Asia's tallest low-pylon cable-stayed bridge.

The Yuxiang Double-Track Expressway project consists of the Banan-Pengshui section (Bapeng Road), the Pengshui-Youyang section (Pengyou Road), and the Wulong-Guizhou Daozhen section (Wudao Road), with a total length of 285 kilometers, a construction period of 6 years, a bridge-tunnel ratio of 80%, and a total investment of 64.6 billion yuan.

After the Chongqing Yuxiang Double-Track Expressway (Pengshui-Youyang section) is completed, it will form a fast sea-access corridor for Chongqing and play an important role in building a livelihood highway and a tourism highway. It is of great significance for improving traffic conditions in southeastern Chongqing and northern Guizhou, accelerating the construction of an interconnected and networked trunk and national/provincial highway system, and promoting economic development in areas along the project.
